Dr. Eliphas Gitonga Makunyi is a lecturer in Kenyatta University, department of Population and reproductive health which is in the school of public health. He has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Moi University. His post graduate studies were obtained from Kenyatta University (Master of public health and PhD) and University of Nairobi (medical physiology). He has Doctor of Philosophy in reproductive health. His focus was on the role of mobile health in maternal health with a specific emphasis on ante natal care. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow with International Union of Scientific study of Populations (IUSSP) where he is the principal Investigator for Urban Family planning among Marginalized and vulnerable Somali Women. He is a researcher and consultant in mobile health, health technologies for health, adolescent health, maternal health, Nursing, medical physiology and monitoring/evaluation in public health. His research in medical physiology is on haemostasis and thrombosis. Eliphas does consultancy trainings on data analysis using STATA software. He publishes in areas of specialization. He lectures in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with main areas being maternal health, child health, adolescent health, monitoring/evaluation and medical physiology. Eliphas is a member of National nurses’ association- Kenya and Thrombosis/Haemostasis society- Kenya chapter. He is registered with Nursing Council of Kenya.
